On November 15, 2023, 83 of our 223 members were in attendance at our twelfth voting meeting. Members are able to nominate a charity while having a representative from the charity make the presentation. This format allows us to learn about three worthy Sarasota charities and our members’ passion for them.
Congratulations to all of them.
Streets of Paradise, Inc. was the selected charity
We raised $21,700
Streets of Paradise, Inc. also received a $5,000 matching grant by The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, resulting in a total member donation of $26,700.
Streets of Paradise, Inc. Nominated by Monique Riviere & presented by Cathy Bryant
Their mission is fighting homelessness with dignity and grace. They oppose poverty and racism. They advocate for those who suffer from discrimination by empowering them to obtain a better quality of life. Their volunteers prepare and serve nutritious home cooked dinner for homeless and food insecure friends every Wednesday evening outside the Salvation Army. They also provide furniture and household essentials to individuals and families that are receiving housing through their member agencies.

Streets of Paradise Presentation
The two additional charities that were pitched were:
Bailes Consulting Services (Freedom House) Nominated by Robin Hain & presented by Jennifer Fretz-Smith
Their mission is to help individuals find freedom in sobriety and recovery. They help individuals with varying life barriers find and keep housing, employment, and stability using the whole person approach.

Family Promise of Sarasota Nominated by Joanne Simons & presented by Tara Maffei

Family Promise collaborates with dozens of nonprofit agencies, local organizations, interfaith congregation partners and engages more than 200 volunteers to prevent homelessness, divert families out of unsafe or unsustainable living situations, and stabilize previously unhoused families.

On March 15, 2023, 82 of our 223 members were in attendance at our eleventh voting meeting. Members are able to nominate a charity while having a representative from the charity make the presentation. This format allows us to learn about three worthy Sarasota charities and our members’ passion for them.

Good Samaritan Pharmacy & Health Services was the selected charity
We raised $21,850
Good Samaritan Pharmacy & Health Services also received a $5,000 matching grant by The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, resulting in a total member donation of $26,850.
Through their internal fundraising efforts, Good Samaritan Pharmacy & Health Services secured an anonymous matching donation of $21,750, doubling the 100 Women Who Care donation to a total of $43,600.

Their mission is to provide free medication and medical services to uninsured members of our community to help positively affect their quality of life.

Forty Carrots Nominated by Dawn Doughty, Presented by Michelle Kapreilian
Forty Carrots Family Center is guided by a vision that all parents will provide their children with experiences and environments that are emotionally and physically safe so that they can grow into capable and caring young people. Their mission is to nurture healthy child and family development through research-based, relationship-centered education and mental health services.

The Center of Hope South County, Inc. Nominated by Linda Hoy, Presented by Lynette McCleland
The Center of Hope South County offers assistance, help, hope and guidance to the homeless as well as community members that are struggling with housing, utilities and food.
