100 Women Who Care – Greater Sarasota
About Us
We are a group of women united by a shared passion for supporting our local community in the Greater Sarasota area. By pooling our donations, we are able to make a greater impact on local charities than any of us could achieve alone.
Our members come from all walks of life and a variety of financial backgrounds, but together, we have the power to help our community grow in meaningful ways.
The 100 Women Who Care Movement
The first 100 Women Who Care group was founded in November 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, Michigan. Karen’s vision was simple yet powerful: gather women together, each contributing $100, to raise funds quickly and efficiently for local nonprofits.
At their very first one-hour meeting, 100 women donated $10,000 to purchase 300 new baby cribs for families in need. This inspiring idea sparked a worldwide grassroots movement. Today, more than 350 chapters around the globe are making a difference in their local communities.
Our Chapter
100 Women Who Care – Greater Sarasota was launched in January 2018 by a dedicated group of women eager to bring this movement to our area. Twice a year, we meet for just one hour to select a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Together, we donate $10,000 or more to that organization, creating an immediate and lasting impact.
We are not a 501(c)(3) organization or a business. We are passionate volunteers who donate our time and talents to support this effort. Best of all, 100% of every donation goes directly to the chosen charity after each biannual meeting.
How It Works
- Each member pledges to give $100 twice a year.
- All donations stay in the Greater Sarasota community.
- In just one hour, we raise $10,000 or more for a local nonprofit.
