On November 13, 2024, 107 of our 240 members were in attendance at our fourteenth voting meeting. Members are able to nominate a charity while having a representative from the charity make the presentation. This format allows us to learn about three worthy Sarasota charities and our members’ passion for them.

Baby Basics of Sarasota County Inc. was the selected charity
Baby Basics of Sarasota County, Inc. Nominated by Dempsey Ollison, Presented by Sandy Slaminko
Baby Basics Of Sarasota County provides diapers, wipes, books and kindness to low-income families and babies 1 to 3 years old who live in Sarasota, have one working parent and receive no federal or state cash assistance.

The mission of Sarasota Children’s Museum is to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem solvers through engaging hands-on learning experiences in STEAM. They are a museum for children and families, providing interactive exhibits and programs that ignite curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.

Suncoast Institute on Chemical Dependency Nominated by Robin Hain, Presented by Linda Christensen
Suncoast Institute on Chemical Dependency offers free educational programs to anyone seeking a better understanding of the disease of addiction. Their Information Resource Book offers community members actionable guidance when confronted with the disease of addiction.

On March 13, 2024, 80 of our 235 members were in attendance at our thirteenth voting meeting. Members are able to nominate a charity while having a representative from the charity make the presentation. This format allows us to learn about three worthy Sarasota charities and our members’ passion for them.

Making an Impact, Inc. was the selected charity
We raised $23,250
Making an Impact, Inc. also received a $5,000 matching grant by The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, resulting in a total member donation of $28,250.

Making an Impact empowers people with information and insight to help guide those who need help to organizations that provide it. Their guide is a book of Basic Needs Resources in Sarasota, South Sarasota and Manatee counties. They also have a Disaster Recovery Guide and a Pharmacy Discount Resource Guide.

All Faiths Food Bank Nominated by Debi Jacob, Presented by Becky Wright
All Faiths Food Bank is the only food bank and largest hunger relief organization supporting Sarasota and DeSoto counties. They were asking for funding to help with their Campaign Against Summer Hunger.

South County Food Pantry Nominated by Lisa Mills, Presented by Rosie Schroeder

South County Food Pantry’s mission is to gather, organize and distribute food to those in need. They serve 450 families including 1,200 individuals and 200 children. They are unique in providing meat, eggs, butter, cheese, milk and produce for their clients.
