Women giving as one is not a responsibility but a privilege

Frequently
Asked
Questions
Which organizations can be sponsored?
To be considered for a donation the organization must serve the Greater Sarasota area and must be a 501(c)(3) charity.  Greater Sarasota is defined as Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto and Charlotte counties. National charities can only be considered if the donation is going to a local chapter and will be used locally.  The charity cannot be political in nature.
What is a 501(c)(3) charity?
Being a 501(c)(3) charity means the charity has been approved by the IRS as a tax-exempt nonprofit whose purpose is to benefit the general public through philanthropic goals that aim to improve the quality of life for the community and beyond. For more information please visit the IRS website.
Is my contribution tax deductible? How do I get my tax receipt?

Yes, your contribution is eligible for a tax deduction. Checks are written directly to the local charity, NOT to 100 Women Who Care. Your tax acknowledgement will be sent to you directly from the charity that receives your donation.

NOTE: Any sponsored charity is not allowed to create, sell or distribute a list with your contact information. They are not allowed to solicit you for further contributions. If this were to happen, that charity would no longer be considered at future meetings.

Can I just send the donation to the charity myself? Why do you have to send it on my behalf?
The goal of the 100 Women Who Care organization is to make one large collective donation on behalf of the entire membership. One large donation of $10,000 will make a big impact in our community, with each member’s donation being part of that larger donation.
How do I vote if I cannot attend the meeting?

In order to vote you must be present at the meeting and current in your contributions to previously selected charities.   If you cannot attend you will receive an email shortly after the conclusion of the meeting notifying you of the charity chosen at the meeting.   You should mail in your check, or make your electronic payment through the link provided, as soon after the meeting as possible. The presentation of the checks cannot be done until all of the checks are received.

If I don’t attend the meeting to whom do I send my check?

Payment can be made electronically through a link provided in the announcement email, or you can mail your check to:

Can my employer match my contribution?

Can I bring a friend to the meeting who is not signed up?
